HYPERTENSION

Hypertension (HTN), also known as high blood pressure (HBP), is a long term medical condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is persistently elevated.
It's a common public health problem in our communities.

It's has many risk factors, viz
Excess salt, excess weight gain, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, family history,
Diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia.

Life style modifications are the main goal for preventing HTN

National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) usefully recommends

_regular aerobic exercise
_reduction of salt,
_alcohol, and smoking, and
_advocates ‘healthy, low-calorie diets' for ‘overweight individuals with raised blood pressure’

The above recommendations are what we call avoiding modifiable risk factors...
Other like non modifiable factors, those that you can't do anything, but will obviously have HBP in the long run, if at all you have, viz
_Family history
_Age
_Gender... Just to name a few

NB: While following the above mentioned life style modifications, regularly go to your nearby clinic for check up ,especially
If you are 40 years and above
if you have conditions like diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and other chronic illnesses.

And if the blood pressure is elevated on two separate occasions then your physician will place you on antihypertensive medications.

I wish you well.
